Hafeez Baoku is an author, filmmaker, entrepreneur, public speaker, and leadership development expert committed to helping men build businesses, strengthen their faith, lead their families, love their wives, and build legacies that extend beyond their lifetimes.
Before beginning his professional career, Hafeez attended Wingate and Troy University, where he played collegiate football. After leaving the field, he spent several years working as an educator in public, private, and charter schools. His experiences in education gave him an intimate understanding of the challenges facing young people, families, and communities and strengthened his commitment to developing the next generation of principled leaders.
Hafeez began his journey as a writer through The Urban Gospel Mission, a platform he founded in 2012 to help bridge the gap between the gospel and urban culture. His writing would eventually reach a much broader audience through contributions to and features in several prominent Christian publications, including The Gospel Coalition, Desiring God, The Christian Post, Boundless, and others.
In 2014, Hafeez published his first book, Sex, God, and the Single Life: An Honest Journey to Satisfying Intimacy. Written for Christian singles, the book provides a culturally relevant and biblically grounded examination of love, sexuality, relationships, and the pursuit of genuine intimacy. Through the book, Hafeez sought to help readers remain faithful to God during their season of singleness without conforming to cultural standards that often promise fulfillment but ultimately leave people dissatisfied.
Alongside his work as an author and educator, Hafeez developed a passion for filmmaking and the power of visual storytelling. He went on to write and direct several short films, as well as a documentary for Yes Prep Public Schools. His 2018 short film, Help, explored the realities of mental health and was recognized by the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
In 2017, Hafeez co-founded The Roommates Podcast, a platform created to help men become better individuals, leaders, husbands, and fathers. Under his leadership, the platform grew into a nationally recognized media brand and attracted an audience of more than half a million subscribers. Through hundreds of long-form conversations, Hafeez interviewed some of the world’s most influential thinkers, entrepreneurs, authors, and cultural leaders, including Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, Gary Vaynerchuk, Pastor Mark Driscoll, Gary Thomas, Robert Greene, Ben Shapiro, Tom Bilyeu, Lewis Howes and many others.
After several seasons of building The Roommates Podcast, Hafeez recognized that content alone could inspire men, but genuine community was required to help them consistently transform their lives. That conviction led him to establish The Standard, a private membership community created to help accomplished men grow across every major area of life.
The Standard brings men together through meaningful relationships, leadership development, accountability, transformative conversations, and in-person experiences. What began as a vision for creating deeper connection among men has grown into a nationwide community with a presence in major cities across the United States.
Today, Hafeez specializes in public speaking, leadership development, community building, and the personal development of men. Across every chapter of his career, from education and writing to filmmaking, podcasting, and entrepreneurship, his work has remained anchored in one central mission: to help men become faithful leaders who raise strong families, love their wives, serve their communities, honor God, and leave a legacy that will positively shape generations to come.
